Description: In the late 1980's, ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) defined itself as: "A non-partisan group of individuals united in anger to end the AIDS crisis through direct action." Today, what anger mobilizes the 40 million people worldwide living with HIV? Can other sentiments - disappointment, frustration, sadness - fuel collective action? "The AIDS Uncanny" series listens for a remainder of AIDS activism haunting the present.

As the conditions of transnational culture and markets enunciate the transnational artist, that artist bears a distinct relation to migrant histories and politics. The Transistors series of sound projects gives that relation a space to be heard.

Description: In February 2003, Los Angeles-based electronic musicians and sound artists Ultra-red began a year-long project in the Dublin Ireland council housing estate of Ballymun. Titled The Debt, the project was a series of collective reflections that brought together residents from the public housing communities of Ballymun in Dublin and East Los Angeles' own Pico Aliso.
